Rhubarb (rheum rhabarbaram): Awesome perennial with huge attractive leaves. The leaf stem is what we eat. It is good raw on a hot day or stewed into a sauce or baked into a pie. Rhubarb sauce is especially good on vanilla ice cream.
Plant rhubarb crowns into rich garden soil, keep the weeds back and they will respond. Our plants sometimes make leaves bigger than a small child.
Our Variety: We started our plants from a farmstand sale the first year we bought our land. We don't know the name, but they are the best rhubarbs we have seen around with bright red thick stems.
