Giant Solomon's Seal (polygonatum biflorum var. commutatam)
Solomon's seal is an outstanding perennial. It is striking in form with its 3-4' arching stems and white bell shaped flowers hanging underneath. Solomon seal has a thick edible rhizome that is very resilient. It will grow in full sun or full shade. I once left a clump of solomon's seal that I had dug out of the ground on a driveway. It was just out there in the sun. A week later when I came back it was fine and not wilted at all.
Solomon's seal produces edible, asparagus like shoots in the spring.
