Join Akiva for a walk in the woods as we hike along the Abbot Loop in the Danby State Forest. The walk will focus on ecology, human interactions with nature, and tree and shrub identification.You can either meet up at CCE at 9:30 AM to carpool, or meet at Diane's Crossing on Michigan Hollow Rd.

Join Akiva Silver of Twisted Tree Farm for a walk that will focus on identification, natural history, wildlife value, the role of invasive plants, as well as survival uses of trees and shrubs. The walk will last two hours or more so please come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather and terrain.

Directions: From Ithaca, take Rt. 13 north towards Dryden.  Go approximately 12 miles and turn right on Irish Settlement Rd.  Continue on Irish Settlement approximately 5 miles (you will pass the NORTH parking area on the left) to find the SOUTH parking area on the left just after Goodband Rd.  If you get to Midline Rd. you’ve gone too far.  PLEASE park on Goodband Rd. if the parking lot is full – there is not adequate space to park on the shoulder of Irish Settlement Road.  Get more preserve information.

6th Annual NUT BONANZA

& Fall Plant Sale Twisted Tree Farm

This family event is a celebration of the gifts of the trees. We'll be outdoors, roasting and cracking nuts all day, enjoying a bonfire, talking about trees, and tasting things like acorns, american persimmons, chestnuts, hickory nuts, butternuts, hazelnuts, and black walnuts.

We will have stations set up for you to experience everything from roasting chestnuts to pressing walnut oil.

Kids are very welcome. 

Suggested Donation of $5-20 and/or bring food to share. Giant potluck is happening on the porch.
