Medlar mespilus germanica
Small trees, about the size of a medium small apple tree. Medlars produce beautiful white flowers and delicious unique fruit. I think a medlar tastes like apple cider sauce. Fruits are about an inch and a half wide. They ripen in fall and are best left off on the counter in a paper bag until soft.
Medlars were very popular in Europe during medieval times.
Cuttings are difficult to root, but easy to graft. Medlars are commonly grafted on pear or quince rootstocks
All cuttings ship while they are dormant, winter through early spring
