Juneberry Amelanchier Canadensis :
Seed gathered from excellent flavored trees covered in dark purple delicious fruit. Native to the Eastern U.S. Reaches 12-25 feet at maturity
Saskatoon Amelanchier Alnifolia:
Seed gathered from cultivated saskatoons with large excellent flavored fruit. Native to the western U.S. grows as a shrub 7-10 feet tall.
Note- Seeds that come packed in fresh sand can be sown immediately. They will germinate after they go through a few months of cold stratification. They have been stored in the fridge here at the farm since they were collected in June.
Seeds that are sent dry should be soaked overnight and stratified for 3-5 months before planting
Juneberry seeds are fine sitting out in a pot or a tray all winter. The freezing temperatures do not affect germination here in zone 5 upstate NY.
